Common Questions

Things people ask
before they book.

My missionary says they're fine. Should I still reach out?

Yes — and you probably already know why you're asking. "I'm fine" is often what missionaries say because they don't want to worry you, not because they actually are. A 15-minute call costs nothing and gives you a clearer picture of whether there's something worth paying attention to.

Is this just for early returned missionaries or all returned missionaries?

Both. Coming home early brings its own unique set of challenges — shame, identity questions, the pressure to explain yourself. But missionaries who served a full term struggle too. If the transition home has been harder than expected, this call is for you regardless of how long the mission was.

Can I call as a parent even if my missionary won't come?

Absolutely. Parent coaching is a real part of what we do. Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is help you figure out how to show up for your missionary — what to say, what not to say, and how to support them without making it worse. You don't have to wait for them to be ready.

What's the difference between coaching and therapy?

Coaching is forward-focused. We work on where you're going, not just where you've been. It's about goals, direction, confidence, and building a plan for what comes next. Therapy treats mental health conditions — coaching doesn't, and we're clear about that. If we ever feel someone needs clinical support, we'll say so and help connect them with the right resources.

We've already tried getting help and it didn't work. Why would this be different?

Most support resources aren't built specifically for the LDS missionary experience. General therapy, well-meaning friends, even some church resources — they don't always understand this world from the inside. Jon is an LMFT with 25+ years of experience and a father of an early returned missionary. Brooklyn is a peer mentor who has lived it. This isn't generic support — it's specific to your world.

And for missionaries who are hesitant to ask for help at all — coaching doesn't carry the same stigma as therapy. They may need less focus on what's wrong with them and more focus on just needing support to move forward with their life. Every session is online from the privacy of their own home. No office, no waiting room, no running into someone they know and having to explain where they've been. Just an honest conversation from wherever they feel comfortable.

We're not in Utah — does that matter?

Not at all. Every session is conducted online via video or phone. We work with families across the country. Wherever you are, if you have a connection and 15 minutes, we can talk.
